The team from McAuley Tree Surgery did a terrific job removing a Leylandii and pruning and shaping other trees and when they cleared up there wasn't a stray leaf in the garden. McAuley Tree Surgeons were recommended to me and I have no hesitation in recommending them onward. Very professional and obliging. In our case the team took down a large dangerous tree alongside a major road. They did so safely and without fuss. Cleared up all the debris and left any logs in a stack for ourselves. Will be getting them again next Spring.Posted on Arnold CousinsAugust 31, 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We couldn’t recommend this team highly enough, Kieran, ably assisted by Robin, dealt with a locationally very difficult job with no room for mistakes due to the proximity a workshop. They were very obliging and generous with their time and left the area cleared and tidy and the contract price was more than fair. What is the difference between an arborist and a tree surgeon?
A tree surgeon is trained to be able to fell, prune, shape or crown reduce trees.
An arborist is trained to check trees for disease, give advice on their care and maintenance.
McAuley tree surgery have staff trained in both areas to offer an all-round professional service or your tree requirements.
What is the difference between crown reduction, and topping a tree?
Tree topping is removing the large branches from the tree top and leaving only the lateral branches and stumps on the tree. This, however, is not the best way to reduce the height of the tree long term. Topping instead can cause shock, frantic regrowth, disease or potentially death, it is only used if a tree has experienced severe damage from a natural disaster.
Crown reduction involves reducing the foliage while preserving the general structure of the crown. This can reduce the size and shape of the tree while ensuring it stays healthy. The limbs on the upmost portion of the tree are cut shorter but only removed next to the lateral growth to be able to ensure that they heal faster and grow again properly.
